Emilio Defez Candel was born in 1968. He received his M.Sc. Degree in Mathematics from the Universidad de Valencia (UV) in 1992. Currently, he is Full Professor at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Technological University of Valencia, UPV) where he obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1996 with a thesis on “Orthogonal Matrix Polynomials: Theory and Applications”. He is an active member of the Instituto de Matemática Multidisciplinar (IMM) and his research interests specialize on orthogonal matrix polynomials, matrix differential and partial derivative equations, matrix functions and their applications in science and technology.
